The City of Maple Ridge is working on a number of initiatives to improve our communications and community engagement with the goal to tell the story of Maple Ridge more robustly, accurately and through the eyes of citizens like you.

Shape the City’s Brand Story

Maple Ridge continues to be one of the fastest growing communities in BC, and the City is committed to creating a vibrant, sustainable, connected and prosperous community that is a regional leader in innovation.

To support this strong vision for the community, the City is working on a brand strategy and visual identity update to amplify Maple Ridge’s story and share the community’s vision for the future. The new brand will further help build community engagement and market Maple Ridge for tourism and economic development as we gear up to host the BC Summer Games and the 150th anniversary of the City’s incorporation in 2024.

We are inviting the community to help shape the themes that will help define the City’s new brand and story.

What We Learned - July 2023

We greatly appreciate everyone who took time to share their feedback as we refine our brand and story. Your input will help ensure that we authentically represent our community and that our brand resonates with residents.

What is a Brand?

A brand is more than just a logo or tagline; it represents people's perceptions and feelings towards a community. It is a combination of reputation and perception. We want Maple Ridge's brand to evoke a modern and positive image that aligns with our values and aspirations.

Developing Our Brand Strategy

The City of Maple Ridge is working with an agency to develop the City’s brand strategy. As part of this work, we have undertaken an extensive review of public input from various City strategies over the years as well as data from the Fall 2022 Citizens Satisfaction Survey to understand where we are today and the broad perceptions of the community.

In addition, we held several focus groups to get feedback from residents, businesses, community leaders and staff. From this input, we have identified general Brand Foundations or themes that reflect the unique attributes of Maple Ridge.

Brand Foundations

The language represented in each Brand Foundation below is an emerging theme and not meant as a tagline for marketing and communications. Rather it is intended to be aspirational and a directional guide that will help inform what we say about the City and what we want people to think and feel about Maple Ridge.

1. A Growing & Thriving City

Maple Ridge, one of B.C.’s oldest cities (incorporated in 1874), is experiencing an exciting period of growth and opportunity. We’re no longer a sleepy community on the outskirts of Metro Vancouver! Our bold vision attracts diverse residents, talent, business partners, investment, and visitors. Maple Ridge has strong economic fundamentals supported by an entrepreneurial, innovative spirit and 'can do' attitude. Through growth in diverse industries as well as independent and home-based businesses, the city is creating a strong economic base that will provide jobs and opportunities at home. We’re going places. Be part of our exciting future!

2. A Place to Build Your Home & Dreams

Maple Ridge residents love where they live. There is a strong sense of community and belonging. No matter what stage of life you're in, Maple Ridge has much to offer. Our City celebrates diversity and is a welcoming and inclusive community that provides safe and family-friendly neighbourhoods. With affordable and diverse housing, green spaces, recreational opportunities, and reliable services and infrastructure, Maple Ridge is the ideal place to start fresh, grow, and prosper. Be part of our truly sustainable community and live your best life here!

3. Surrounded by Nature

Maple Ridge has a special relationship with its natural environment and surroundings. Our natural environment fosters civic pride and well-being, benefiting our overall health. Residents and visitors can revel in a vibrant lifestyle with abundant forests, lakes, trails, parks, and recreational facilities. We embrace our agricultural roots and prioritize food security, community self-reliance, and sustainability. As responsible stewards, we protect and value our natural assets, inspiring us to think boldly and creatively as we tackle future challenges. Nature in Maple Ridge enriches the lives of all who reside and visit here. Get inspired by nature to live boldly!
